The Sun Lab in the Department of Genetics at Yale University School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join the team focused on cilia and ciliopathies.
About the Lab: The Sun Lab investigates the function of cilia and the etiology of ciliopathies, particularly polycystic kidney disease and primary ciliary dyskinesia. Originally established as a zebrafish lab, we have since expanded our research to include mouse and cell culture models to translate novel findings into systems that are more directly relevant to clinical applications. Our interdisciplinary approach spans genetics, chemical genetics, single cell analysis, biochemistry, developmental biology, and imaging. Our current key research questions include: (1) tissue-specific functions of cilia in epithelial cyst formation and interstitial fibrosis in the kidney, (2) building motile cilia in zebrafish and the mammalian airway, and (3) chemical-genetic interactions in zebrafish ciliopathy models.
Qualifications: We are seeking a motivated, creative, and open-minded candidate ready to explore the opportunities in our vibrant research community. A record of high-quality research is expected. Candidates should be capable of logical reasoning, robust experimental design and execution, and proficient in molecular and cellular biology. The candidate is also expected to work with both zebrafish and mouse models, with experience in the mouse model being a plus. Candidates with strong prior postdoctoral experience will be considered for an Associate Research Scientist position based on qualifications.
