Postdoctoral Research Positions:

Host-Pathogen Interactions / Inflammation / Immunity

Two postdoctoral research positions are available for highly motivated candidates to investigate inflammation, innate immunity, and tissue regeneration in the skin and mucosal tissues during viral infections and chronic/recurring diseases. Experimental models will include in vitro assays, conventional and organoid cell cultures, and knockout/transgenic mice. The studies aim to: 1) identify novel extra- and intracellular inflammatory and/or viral restriction mechanisms, 2) determine how these processes are regulated to maintain homeostasis, and 3) establish connections to human diseases, including cancer and chronic inflammatory conditions, when the pathways are dysregulated.

Requirements: A recent Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell biology, immunology, microbiology and/or virology. Peer-reviewed publications in the field(s) of immunology, virology and/or signal transduction. Training in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, signal transduction, cell culture methods, and/or mouse models of disease. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Must be willing and able to handle mice and infectious materials.

The positions are available immediately and will remain open until suitable candidates are identified.

The city is home to countless museums, galleries, theater companies, and sports venues. There are plenty fitness and recreational opportunities, and the nightlife is vibrant at the endless numbers of restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. During the winter months the Pocono Mountains offer occasions for skiing and snowboarding, and during the summer the beaches in New Jersey and Delaware are close by. Furthermore, New York City and Washington DC are only 1.5 - 2 hours away by car or train.
